Tsunami Trophy Jigging Rod models mount Fuji stainless steel and graphite cushioned reel seats, and braced stainless steel frame Aluminum Oxide guides for light weight, wear resistance and improved casting performance. Light and durable EVA grips are comfortable in the hand and keep these powerful rods light. Blanks are a percision taper blend of undirectional graphite composite and a full length, action-tuned outer layer of high modulus mesh graphite for more power with minimal weight and increased resistance to damage.
After several years of using this rod, I have to say this rod worth the money. It handled many good sized fish.
ProsReasonable price and light weight.

real seats break

Let me start with these rods have great action for the money. They are comfortable to jig with and fun to catch fish with. BUT, we broke 2 reel seats in on the first day out with these. 5 year warranty is great, i'm sure they will be replaced, but it will be the same junk reel seat.

I snapped the tip off one my jig rods that came in the Penn Spinfisher 6500 combos. Bought two of these so I could have matching pairs. We are primarily targeting big bull red fish down 30-60 feet deep. These things are awesome for the price!

Rods are great

Purchased one of the 50-100 lb after using my son's and felt every little nibble you would get. Definitely has increased the amount of hookups that i get due to it being that sensitive. It even put my custom built rod that was over $300 to the test and won. You would never believe how light, sensitive, and yet robust these rods are for the price.

Excellent light weight rod
September 26, 2018
Purchased this rod to do bottom fishing. Rod is very strong and light weight.
which rod would pair up well with a Daiwa BG5000 for live bait/chunking for stripers and blues. Is it also able to toss bigger plugs?
1 Answer
The 6'6" Heavy will be great for live baiting and chunking as well as jigging. Going with a 6'6" will give you better casting distance than the 6'0" when throwing bigger plugs.
The tstbc-j701xh will likely be able to handle smaller tuna, but there are other jigging rods that I would feel more confident in when up against larger tunas, such as the Shimano Trevala or St. Croix Mojo Jig.
