The Shimano Torium Star Drag Reels are new to Shimano's Torium series reels. They are compact, rigid, and powerful saltwater conventional reels with excellent castability and durability expected by saltwater anglers.
S Compact Body: Power-Rigidity-Durability, results in a reel that feels one size smaller in your hand. The B side sideplate is all one piece contributing to both rigidity and in-the-hand palming comfort. The A side side plate has the handle, drag adjustment and cast control knob.
E.I.: is a second layer of surface treatment that is added after the anodizing process. This treatment is forced into any micro sized surface impurities, giving salt no place to adhere thus preventing corrosion.
Cross Carbon Drag: The ideal material for the high drag pressure setting, with smoothness and consistent performance.
This reel is so smooth, the drag and retrieval. It casts great, live bait and irons. Plus 24 lbs of drag, u can really put the hurting on the fish. It's a perfect all around reel and for the price it's a win-win.
Pros24lb of drag Smooth reeling and smooth drag Looks good Feels great in your hand Price

My son and I fish offshore of Port Canaveral every weekend. Nice smooth reel and like the new handle. Reel handels large reds, mangoes, and muttons as long as you reel them fast enough to get them away from the tax man.

Good solid well built reel, with ample cranking power with oversized handle sufficient drag to handle most situations. Fishing in New England like most other places you have no idea what you'll catch this reel can handle them all!
ProsPower handle, wide drag range, cast ability
ConsNot the most balanced reel one side much heavier than the other

Great bottom fishing reel

This is my go to bottom fishing reel
August 23, 2018
This reel is great. I spooled it with 65lb Maxcuatro and it holds a ton. Casts great and the line is easily guided due to its narrow profile. Havenâ€;™;t had a chance to fish for big fish but it yanked the Calico out of the kelp with ease.
Light Weight Super Smooth Great Value

I'd take this reel and be able to buy another one if it broke before buying a $400 Shimano reel with similar specst. This thing is a well rounded do it all reel. Load it up with 50 pound braid 17lbs of drag when needed and a super smooth 38" line retrieve make this reel amazing value and a nice winner from Shimano. Thought the 14 size would be small for bottom fishing in 100+ feet but its not at all. Highly recommend this reel and its a perfect pairing with my 6'6" MH Trevala Rod.

i spend most of my time throwing jigs in Southern Ca for yellowtail, bonita; barracuda, and schoolie size tuna and this reel is awesome. Really solid feel, great drags, good frespool and strong gearing. Only hit is for weak clamp setup, the heads on the anchor bolts break off easily, purchased a tiburon clamp setup $40.00 so I could put on deckhand style rods - this is the only thing keeping it from 5 stars.
ProsHandle feel, drags and jigging ability.
ConsCheap clamp setup

Smooth Reel, Strong Drag
December 23, 2017
Used for the first time this Friday, off shore. No problem horsing up an approximate 100 to 125 lb nurse shark. Drag is smooth and strong.
