Great Rod For Inshore Fishing
June 25, 2020
I have the 7' Medium Heavy Action Teramar NE and bought it early 2020. I have it paired with the Stradic FL 4000 spooled with 30lb Power Pro Super slick and this seems to be a really good match for balance, casting distance, etc. Used it on the boat for both bottom rig and jigging, and in the surf casting lures and it was worked well for all of them. Its fairly sensitive given the MH action, so i'm able to feel whats going on with smaller fish and handled a 24" blue fish with room to spare. Tried this out on the lake and landed a 6lb large mouth bass. The bass stood no chance against this teramar.

Keep in mind with this rod, i you really need to crank down on the reel lock nut. the threading could be improved in comparison to other rods i own but this doesn't cause any issues.

It seems like a very versatile and durable rod that i will continue to put to the test.

Great rod for big Reds
February 23, 2020
I paired this rod with a Cabo 40 to use for popping cork and topwater for 40 - 50 lbs. Red Drum in the Pamlico Sound. Can cast it all day, split handle is great, and most of all it will handle a 50 lb.. Drum with no problem at all. A fun rod and reel combo to fish with.
ProsLight, strong, and ergonomically comfortable to use for a long time.

Tough, versatile fishing rod!
January 19, 2020
This particular rod in a MH is my ?go to? rod for yellowtail snapper. It has that nice flexible tip that can feel those light snapper bites and yet can also handle red group or the occasional amber jack. And has the backbone to fight those same fish! Highly recommend!
ProsStrong backbone for bigger fish and sensitive enough for the smaller ones, too.

Great inshore Rod
May 24, 2019
Great light inshore rod for pier, jetty fishing. Had mine for two years and still looks brand new. The bottom grip is a little warn from resting on the pier deck though. The split grip is comfortable and is a bonus. The epoxy on the guide feet have not stripped or become brittle.
ProsReasonably light Split grip Good quality

Great Fluking Rod
September 3, 2018
Bought this for Fluking because I wanted Something more versatile Wow you can feel everything on this rod in 60 feet of water and has no problem bringing these fluke off the bottom. I have caught bluefish, and fluke I can?t believe the sensitivity of this rod

sensitive and great flex
July 14, 2018
I brought medium heavy extra fast 7ft rod. I tried this rod out on black sea bass, fluke so far. This rod is more sensitive then I thought. When you get a fish on, this rod has great parabolic bend. My thoughts are if you are going for good size stripped bass I would get the heavy action model of this rod.

So Far So Good
May 23, 2018
I grabbed a TMSEX76MH for early season stripers on Cape Cod. The rod is rated 1/2-1 1/2 but I think it will throw much heavier. It casts the 1/2oz ok but I was also able to throw 2oz without issue. I have the rod paired with a stradic 5000 and it is super lightweight. I feel like this setup should even do well with bigger stripers from the boat. Giving 4 out of 5 just because I think the lure rating is a little off. That being said this rod should be even more versatile than I thought.
ProsLightweight Lots of Backbone
ConsWorks better on the higher end of it's rating

The perfect Hogfish rod
March 12, 2018
The 7 foot medium is perfect for Hogfishing and subtle snapper bites. This rod is super light, super sensitive but has all the backbone you need to lift something big up off the bottom. I have caught keeper grouper while knocker rig fishing with shrimp on this rod and had no issues getting them up. This is the ideal rod for fishing with a 3000-5000 size reel with 20-30 pound test. I always have 2 of these exact rods with a 4000 and a 5000 stradic on them. These are the only spinning rods I use offshore anymore and eventually I will buy 2 of the medium heavy 7 footers and keep 4000 stradics on the medium and the 5000 stradics on the medium heavy. Just be careful not to crush the guides, they will easily bend.
ProsBalances well with 4000 stradic. Super sensitive and light. Brute power
ConsWarranty is only a year. Delicate guides

Not as "Extra-Fast" as advertized
October 24, 2017
I have the 7'6 model paired with a Shimano Stella 6000 and it is one of my favorite setups for inshore striped bass fishing. the rod has more than enough power to pull large fish out of the rocks. my only gripe with the rod is the action is a little slower than advertised, i did not realize in the store when i purchased it but when working soft plastic twitch baits. The action pales in comparison to rods such as the Saint Croix Avid which I also have in the 7'6 and is much better for this application. I do love this rod but just not as advertised. Would be well suited for pitching live bait off a bait runner or working conventional plugs for sure.

looking for a rod to pair with either a shimano spheros 8000 or penn spinfisher 6500 for inshore fishing (smaller tarpon, snook, jacks, and other species you catch off the beach). Want a rod that i can both throw reasonably sized topwater and lures and occasionally live bait. Any suggestions. Also, what pound braid would you recommend.
1 Answer
For fishing on boats or land based locations where casting distance is not a primary concern I'd suggest looking into a medium-heavy Shimano Terez. If you are fishing from the beach and are looking for a surf rod I'd suggest the St. Coix Mojo Surf or Avid Surf (medium power).

Is the Shimano BTR 6000 a good match for the TMSEX70MH? I like to use it to cast lures up to 2 ounces. My smallest lure is 1/2 ounce. I also jig with soft plastics. Fish inshore for striped bass.
1 Answer
I would suggest going with the the 4000 size as it will be a better size match with that particular rod. The 4000 size will give you a sufficient line capacity with 30# braid or lighter. If you plan on using a braided line heavier than 30# or any type of monofilament, I'd suggest stepping up to the 6000 size to get sufficient line capacity.
