The River2Sea Whopper Plopper lures are designed by legendary angler Larry Dahlberg and are the perfect bass catching lures, from largemouth to smallmouth. The tails of these lures are perfectly tuned right out of the box. They also cast a mile, and provide a wider possible range of speeds as well as commotion.
What can I say. I'm a buzzbait addict. I'll throw one any time the water is above 60 degrees. The Whopper Plopper, while technically not a buzzbait, is the lure I throw when they're short striking or swirling on a buzzbait. Throw it out past the strikezone, crank it a few feet, and let it sit right on top of the target, crank it again, and they'll kill it. Drives the fish nuts. I had 3 fish over 6 pounds this past season on a Monkey Butt and a Terminator. Can't wait until Spring.
ProsGreat action Durable Gets the bites
ConsNeed one in a Natural bream color.

Early morning bass catcher

My go to lure for fishing right before sunrise for bass at my local lake. Best with a slow retrieve. I also tried using one off the Carolina surf, no luck there. But I'm sure it'd work great with blues.
My go to lure
September 21, 2020
I have had a lot of success with this lure. I have caught some decent LMB (18"), Smallies and Walleye (22") using the loon color at night. My favorite is the 90 and second choice would be the 75. I have not had any issues with the 90 rolling or twisting. The pictures I posted were of the fish I caught with the 75.
ProsCatches fish period!
ConsPrice, it kills me if I lose a lure.

Fun lure to fish with
June 24, 2020
I've used a number of sizes and colors and these are fun lures to fish with. Even the largest size draws pike and bass. No muskie yet, but I'm sure it will. I'm not sure that color really matters for these. Not the best hook up percentage, but that is top water fishing. There are a number of decent videos out there for mods like using some shrink tube to hold the hooks out.

Draws violent typesetter strikes
May 6, 2020
Absolutely killer bait for catching big largemouth and smallmouth. Draws up some of the most violent typesetter strikes I've seen. They flat out destroy them! The 130 had produced some very large bass for be here in the Northeast.
ProsGreat quality components Only upgrade needed im is a Spring power swivel to stop line twist
ConsTwist line if you don't have swivel
Good bass lure

Great and unique

Love the unique design of this lure. Fish can't resist the action but the pricetag is definitely on the higher end for lures in this market.
Whopper Plopper 90

I have had this lure for about a year and it has blown me away. The tail creates the noise and splash of an injured baitfish near the surface, drawing in bass. So far I have caught small and largemouth bass. This thing works well in clear and murky water from prespawn until late fall (Im in northern New Egland so it varies depending on where you live). I have gone out and bought 3 more in varying colors all work well.
Pros-very effective -splashes -rattles -variety of size and color.
Consif you are using a baitcaster it is fairly heavy so be mindful of backlash.
Can this lure be used for saltwater (barramudi & barracuda) & other surface fishes??
This lure can be used for those applications, but I can't tell you how long it would hold up to fish with sharp teeth or high speed. If you were targeting those species I would probably recommend a different lure. If you do decide to use this one, I would switch out the hooks and swivels to ones that are more appropriate for use in salt water.
